Revitalizing Existing Churches

The North Central Revitalizing Existing Churches Taskforce exists to call congregations to experience revitalization. Revitalization is an awakening to God. It involves evaluation, repentance, and obedience to God’s will. Toward this end the taskforce focuses on three key objectives/goals:

• To enable congregations to understand the concept of revitalization

• To provide opportunities for involvement in revitalization

• To assist congregations in discernment of God’s direction.

These objectives/goals are largely met through three efforts:

• Congregational Spiritual Renewal Process: Two model sessions are provided for small groups from interested congregations. Groups are introduced to a biblical story of spiritual

renewal, current story of spiritual renewal, and are led through a self-analysis process. Session One deals with personal spiritual renewal. Session Two focuses on congregational

spiritual renewal. Participants are asked to model those experiences back in their congregational setting. Congregations are then offered several options as to how they wish to

continue forward.

• Website: The taskforce maintains a webpage on this website. Various spiritual renewal helps are offered for congregations and congregational leaders. Appropriate book

reviews to assist in spiritual renewal are also included.

• Individual/Congregational Consultation: Various members of the taskforce are available for consultation, dialogue, questions, concerns, training, and support.
